Powerball Jackpot Reaches $1.8 Billion
The Powerball jackpot has skyrocketed to $1.8 billion after no one successfully matched all six numbers during the recent drawing. This figure marks the second-largest prize in the history of the game.
One Alabama resident, Susie Conerly, is hoping to become a winner. Rather than indulging in luxurious items, like a new car or home, she’s considering how her winnings could benefit the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Program.
In an unexpected twist, Florida State recently disrupted Alabama in their inaugural game of the 2025 college football season. This has put added pressure on head coach Kalen DeBoer. If Conerly, or another hopeful winner, manages to get the jackpot, it seems they already have some plans in mind regarding the football program.
“I know what I’d do with my first $70 million. I’d pay off Kalen DeBoer and send him packing from the University of Alabama,” she expressed, adding a few more personal grievances about leadership changes.
Interestingly, DeBoer’s buyout is estimated to be around $63 million. He succeeded Nick Saban, who retired following the 2023 season.
If a winner emerges with those six matching numbers, they could walk away with an estimated cash value of $826.4 million before taxes. That’s a life-changing amount, for sure.
Amid this buzz, Matt Straun, CEO of the Powerball Products Group, remarked, “There’s a palpable excitement as players look forward to the next drawing. Just remember to play responsibly; every $2 ticket also goes towards supporting local community causes.”
