Kamala Harris accuses the GOP of 'cheating' before the midterms, stating she is focused on halting the 'madness'

In a recent interview, former Vice President Kamala Harris criticized Republicans, claiming they are resorting to “cheating” as the midterm elections approach. She emphasized her commitment to helping Democrats achieve victory.

“The midterms are constantly occupying my thoughts and efforts,” Harris remarked. “Winning is crucial. These — these folks are cheating. They’re redrawing district lines and making it harder for people to vote, clearly intimidated by the strength of the electorate.”

She mentioned her efforts to “restore some balance” in the government, aiming to win back Congress in both the House and Senate to, as she put it, “stop the madness.” Harris shared her thoughts during a conversation with former U.S. women’s soccer player Megan Rapinoe on the podcast “What Are You Like?”

Rapinoe probed Harris about her motivation for returning to political life. “I really don’t know how to not serve. It’s just part of who I am. I struggle to envision a life where I’m not trying to figure out how to make a difference,” Harris responded.

She expressed her desire to bring back some “sense of sanity” to governance.

In response to Harris’ remarks about voting, RNC communications official Ally Triolo criticized her perspective, suggesting that support for voter ID and proof of citizenship is reasonable, accusing Democrats of needing to manipulate the electoral process to succeed.

Rapinoe also inquired about Harris’ plans for the 2028 elections. Harris admitted, “I haven’t decided yet. Honestly, 2028 isn’t a priority if we can’t secure victories in 2026.”

She stated in an earlier interview that she even backs candidates who prefer to keep her off the campaign trail, indicating her focus on winning. “We need to win, plain and simple. That’s the bottom line,” Harris insisted. “I’ve navigated local, statewide, and national campaigns, and I trust these candidates to know what it takes to succeed.”

Harris looked forward to campaigning where she could be beneficial, emphasizing the need to rein in what she termed a “lawless administration” and provide Americans with necessities like affordable healthcare and childcare.

Rapinoe shared her experiences as a female athlete during a time of significant advancement in women’s sports, but she expressed concern about setbacks in equal rights. “It’s been a rollercoaster of progress and then a pretty notable regression when it comes to rights. I think the two are absolutely linked,” she reflected.

Describing her journey, she recalled, “For a long time, discussions about women’s issues were off-limits. The narrative was often, ‘You’re not skilled enough’ or ‘Not entertaining enough.’ But we made strides, and yet it feels like there’s a resistance to letting us fully succeed.”
