Harris Advocates for Lower Voting Age

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has proposed reducing the voting age to 16, emphasizing that Generation Z, raised amid the climate crisis, deserves a greater say in politics.

“The voting age should be lowered to 16, and here’s why. Gen Z — they’re roughly between 13 and 27 years old. Their reality is shaped by the climate crisis. They’ve even termed it ‘climate anxiety,’ which reflects not just worries about affording a home or the fear of extreme weather destroying their future but also concerns about possibly having children,” Harris shared during an appearance on the CEO Diary podcast.

“Everything happening now tends to impact them more significantly than it does older generations. If those over 16 are voting, they’re likely to prioritize climate change,” she added.

Blaze TV host Sarah Gonzalez critiqued Harris’ stance by suggesting there’s a motive behind this push, claiming it aims to “brainwash young people” through educational channels.

This comes as Harris previously labeled young individuals as “stupid,” which raised eyebrows during a speech that had the audience laughing.

“What do we know about the 18- to 24-year-olds? They’re not always making the best decisions — like voting for Democrats. Are Democrats trying to bring in voters from other countries and lower the voting age? Quite possibly,” Gonzalez remarked.

“Anyone with just a bit of critical thinking knows their policies aren’t in line with the nation’s founding principles,” she continued.

Gonzalez pointed out that even Bill Gates has moderated his climate change rhetoric, contrasting with Harris, who seems to perpetuate fear around the issue to gain young support.

“Gates, who once heavily promoted that narrative, has shifted gears, urging his wealthy peers to direct resources to combat hunger instead of climate change. There’s something suspicious about that,” she noted, cautioning against taking his words at face value.

She added, “Why this change? Because the climate change narrative was crafted to manipulate emotions, instilling fear and anxiety. If I thought the world was ending, I’d be scared too.”
