As support for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris continues to grow after President Biden announced he would not seek a second term, now the former president has expressed his support.
In a video statement of support, former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama called on Americans to work with them to elect a vice president, and promised to fully support and do everything in their power to ensure that Michelle becomes the next president of the United States.
Barack Obama is heard first greeting Kamala, and then Michelle joins in.

“I can’t make this call without saying to my love Kamala: I’m so proud of you. This is going to be historic,” former first lady Michelle Obama said.
“Michelle and I called to let you know we couldn’t be more proud to support you and that we’ll do everything in our power to help you win this election and get into the Oval Office,” Obama said, following his wife.
The former president called Harris a “happy warrior.”

“Well, look, you’re a happy warrior,” former President Obama said.
“Indeed,” Harris replied.
“And this country needs happy warriors,” the former first lady said.

The endorsement comes as Harris kicks off a weekend of action to mark 100 days until Election Day.
The Obamas’ endorsement adds to a growing backing for the vice presidential nominee, including from labor unions, advocacy groups and dozens of Democratic elected officials.

“Now is the time for us to support you and your candidacy. This is not just about you, not just about you and Doug, it’s about all of us. … We must register and we must vote. … So let’s all roll up our sleeves and make it happen,” the former first lady said in a statement.
