Vice President Kamala Harris made an embarrassing blunder during a visit to Puerto Rico on Friday, where she was seen clapping along to a protest song against her before an aide translated the lyrics.
After speaking in the territory’s capital, San Juan, Harris stopped in the Santurce neighborhood, toured the Goyoko Community Center and heard from community leaders, Fox News reported. report.
A group of protesters holding signs with messages such as “Kamala Harris War Criminal” and calling the United States a “genocide” met the vice president outside a community center with a band playing music.
The video captured the hilarious moment Harris was smiling and clapping, then lowered her hands when she was told the staff member next to her had translated the lyrics from Spanish.

This song has lyrics Puerto Rican journalist Istra Pacheco said, “Long live free Palestine and Haiti.”
Mr. Harris seemed to understand the meaning of the song, nodding and folding his hands in front of him.
The vice president’s visit was his first to the Caribbean island since taking office.
Before heading to Santurce, Harris visited a home in the San Juan suburbs that was being rebuilt through a federal program following damage caused by Hurricane Maria, Fox News reported.
Harris was accompanied by Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Adrian Todman, and Puerto Rico Governor Pedro Pierluisi to tout the Biden administration’s aid to the region.
“All we all have to do is provide capacity and resources to our communities and the talent that is here. Therefore, President Joe Biden and I are committed to the leadership, people and families of Puerto Rico. “We’ve been very intentional about what we’re trying to do,” she said. “To date, our administration has invested more than $140 billion in Puerto Rico.”
