Kamala Harris, Donald Trump in dead heat in Pennsylvania — with pollster advising GOP to use Biden’s unpopularity to knock Harris

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — As Vice President Kamala Harris prepares to head to Philadelphia on Tuesday night for her first rally with running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, one conservative poll shows the vice president gaining ground in the Keystone State.

Harris and former President Donald Trump are tied at 48% among Pennsylvania voters, according to a poll conducted Monday by Scott Pressler’s Early Vote Action political action committee.

When third-party candidates are included, the two candidates are tied at 45% support each.

Pressler is a conservative pollster whose goal is to get President Trump re-elected, but he noted that 41% of those surveyed were Philadelphia residents, a city that leans more Democratic than the rest of the state.

There, too, incumbent President Biden’s popularity was far lower than that of President Trump and President Harris.

Biden’s net favorability rating was -23 (37% favorable, 60% unfavorable), far surpassing Trump’s -3 (47% favorable, 50% unfavorable) and Harris’ -5 (46% favorable, 51% unfavorable).

“This poll shows that Pennsylvania is a swing state,” Pressler told The Post.

“This also means Biden is extremely unpopular, and Republicans would do well to associate Harris with the failures of the Biden administration – the border, the war and the economy,” he added.

Pressler also noted that 44 percent of respondents identified as Democrats and 42 percent as Republicans.

Those numbers roughly reflect the number of Pennsylvania voters expected to vote this year, and Pressler said he is taking steps to target this demographic.

“I’m keen that Pennsylvania wins the White House,” the pollster told The Post, “which is why my organization … has hired a Pennsylvania director and six full-time field staff, and we’re hiring additional staff with a goal of 19 across the state.”
