Kamala Harris Faces Criticism for WNBA Speech
Former Vice President Kamala Harris sparked backlash over her recent motivational speech to the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks. Critics slammed her comments as a confusing “word salad,” questioning why she transitioned from a presidential candidate to addressing a sports team.
During her speech, Harris mentioned the Sparks’ “incredible impact” on the country. She expressed a desire for young people from diverse backgrounds to watch WNBA games and understand their significance. “I’m traveling this country, and I hope that young girls and boys and people of all sexual backgrounds and races will watch ‘W’ and realize how moving it is,” she stated.
“So keep doing the work you’re doing. You’re impacting people you may never meet,” she added, emphasizing that the influence extended to those who may not recognize their names but feel empowered by the Sparks’ efforts. She spoke about the importance of worth and dignity, saying, “I want to celebrate the path you’re blazing. It’s extraordinary to see.”
Outkick founder Clay Travis was critical of Harris’ remarks, labeling them as “completely unreasonable.” He pointed out that no WNBA team had visited the White House during President Trump’s tenure.
Former University of Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines commented on Fox News, recalling how Harris’ involvement faced mockery during her time as FBI director. She highlighted a contrast in reactions, questioning the lack of backlash compared to past incidents, stating, “Was there any anger like there was when Kash Patel was in the men’s locker room after the Olympic team won the gold medal? No, I don’t think so.”
Other critics labeled Harris’ recent comments as “delusional word salad nonsense,” reminiscent of previous speeches that seemed circular or vague.
