Kamala Harris’ Husband Doug Emhof to Replace Jill Biden at David Letterman’s Fundraiser

Former late-night host David Letterman has a Democratic fundraiser lined up, but instead of hosting an event for Joe Biden, he’ll be hosting Vice President Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, on Nantucket.

Letterman planned a fundraiser several months ago to support Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, and had First Lady Jill Biden host the event. But when Joe stepped down and decided not to run for a second term, Letterman was forced to change the hosting role. summary.

The event, scheduled for next Tuesday in Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts, will be the first fundraiser Emhoff will attend in preparation for Harris’ potential role as the nation’s first “First Man” if she wins the White House in November.

With the Bidens no longer in attendance, Harris’ office appears to be scrambling to select replacements for Joe and Jill at several upcoming fundraisers in California and Colorado.

Harris’ campaign claims it raised more than $81 million in the first 24 hours after her name was floated as the top Democratic candidate to replace Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election.

The campaign added that it received contributions from about 888,000 “grassroots donors” in its first fundraising drive.

Additionally, Hollywood donors who had begun to stop donating to Joe Biden are now reportedly eager to donate to Kamala Harris.

Still, there’s no guarantee Harris will be the nominee. The 59-year-old will have to formally win the nomination of the roughly 4,700 Democratic National Convention delegates, which include those who have pledged their support for Biden, as well as elected officials, former presidents and party elders known as superdelegates.

The Democratic National Convention is scheduled to take place in Chicago from August 19th to 22nd.
