Kamala Harris Speaks on Los Angeles Riots
Kamala Harris, the former vice president, has emerged to address the ongoing riots in Los Angeles, echoing sentiments from past events. During her time as a U.S. senator, when protests erupted following George Floyd’s death, she penned a blog asking for donations to support protest-related initiatives and shared a link to the Minnesota Freedom Fund. Now, she seems to be revisiting those themes in light of the current unrest.
In a recent post, Harris suggested supporting the bail for individuals protesting in Minnesota, mentioning the Minnesota Freedom Fund again. Interestingly, she characterized the protests in Los Angeles as “overwhelmingly peaceful,” while downplaying the violent actions of some individuals, attributing blame instead to President Trump for his plans to deploy the National Guard.
Harris described the actions of those protesting in the streets as “a dangerous escalation intended to cause confusion,” criticizing Trump’s response as “cruel” and “calculated.” She expressed support for Americans who are advocating for fundamental rights and freedoms, seemingly distancing herself from the chaos surrounding the protests.
As she tries to differentiate her current stance from previously criticized actions linked to the George Floyd riots, some analysts argue that her motivations reflect a continued push for left-leaning activism, even amid calls for peace. There’s a clear contradiction in her approach—while quick to label conservatives as extremists, she appears to overlook similar behaviors from those on her side when they clash with law enforcement or damage property.
The political landscape is quite polarized, and many have noted that her response to earlier violence contrasts sharply with her current outlook. It’s raised skepticism about the genuine concerns regarding peace and public safety when the situation aligns with her agenda. Observers feel fortunate that she is not in a position to influence national leadership directly.
