Kamala Harris’s “107 Days” Offers Insight into Her Relationship with Doug Emov

Kamala Harris’s latest work, “107 Days,” gives readers a glimpse into her relationship with Doug Emov, affectionately referred to as the first and second gentleman. The book details their journey during the chaotic early days of the presidential election and the challenges that brought them closer.

Following former President Joe Biden’s suspension of his reelection campaign, Emov’s first marriage came to light, which ended amid revelations about a relationship with his child’s nanny. Emov confirmed this situation shortly after the news broke last year. In her book, Harris reflects on how these personal battles become part of the journey toward office.

“When the enemy targets your family, that’s where the line is crossed,” Harris noted. “I was aware of it; Doug told me during our dating phase. We discussed it during the VP vetting process.”

Harris’s adoration for her husband shines through in her writing; she affectionately calls him “My Dougie.”

“Sadly,” she expressed, families are often not spared from scrutiny in politics.

In a relatable moment, Harris recounts a humorous situation where she screamed from the bath for a towel after Emov had mistakenly interchanged her anniversary and birthday celebrations a few weeks before the election.

“I called Doug to bring one, but he didn’t answer. He was watching the Dodgers playoff game in the other room,” she explained. “When he finally picked up, he asked, ‘What’s wrong?’ I told him it was a bit too much, leading to a heated discussion that was incredibly stressful for both of us.”

Harris reflected on a birthday celebration she hoped would be special. “Doug was juggling his campaign schedule and was understandably worn out,” she shared.

“The venue turned out to be quite dull, with decor stuck in the past. It was spacious but drab, with broken curtains,” Harris noted.

Throughout the book, she emphasizes the importance of unity in a relationship under public scrutiny. “When attacks come from all sides, we need to stand together,” she asserted.

Despite unconfirmed rumors about potential marital troubles after the election, Harris recounted moments of reconciliation, such as discovering notes from Emov left on her pillow.

Following her birthday, her social secretary urged Emov to mend things, providing him with a set of note cards to write thoughtful notes for Harris and others.

Emov has two children from his previous marriage, who affectionately call Harris “Momara.”

Harris shared that her best friend introduced her to Emov, admitting that she had “kissed many frogs before finding her prince.”

In her book, Harris commented on the complexities of political life for male spouses, stating, “D.C. has established social norms that define roles for wives, but not for the few husbands in the spotlight.”

Her office has not yet issued a statement regarding the divorce rumors circulating in the media.
