Vice President Kamala Harris will represent the United States at the Ukraine Peace Summit in June 2024.

The White House announced that Harris will attend the June 15 event.NumberTravel to Lucerne, Switzerland.
Harris’ attendance at the summit will coincide with President Joe Biden attending a campaign fundraiser with George Clooney and Julia Roberts in Los Angeles, California.
“The Vice President will underscore the Biden-Harris Administration’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s efforts to secure a just and lasting peace based on Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the principles of the UN Charter,” spokeswoman Kirsten Allen said.
She went on to say that Harris “reaffirms our support for the Ukrainian people as they defend themselves against ongoing Russian aggression.”
Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, is also scheduled to accompany him.
President Zelensky urged world leaders to attend the summit, while accusing Russia of trying to sabotage the meeting with the help of China.
Meanwhile, when asked whether Biden was sending the wrong message by attending a fundraiser instead of a summit, National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby said, “No leader in the world has been a stronger supporter of Ukraine than Joe Biden.”
Kirby went on to explain that Harris was attending “because of our desire to have representation at that table” and that her attendance would help demonstrate that “Ukraine doesn’t have a more powerful advocate than the United States.”
“It doesn’t matter who represents the United States at this summit,” Kirby said. “It certainly doesn’t mean the United States has backed away from supporting Ukraine.”
