Kamala Harris Wanted to Ban Plastic Straws in 2020

“I think we should ban plastic straws,” Vice President Kamala Harris said during the 2020 presidential campaign, highlighting her record as the most left-leaning senator in 2019.

GovTrack’s scorecard ranked Harris as the most liberal senator of 2019, further to the left than socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

“Yes, I’m a radical,” Harris acknowledged at a public event at Google in 2010.

When asked at a CNN town hall meeting if she would ban plastic straws, Harris replied, “I think we should ban them.”

Harris has yet to back down on her stance on banning plastic straws in the 2024 presidential election, but she appears to be backing away from many of the policies she has previously championed, raising concerns about whether voters can trust the de facto Democratic nominee.

Harris no longer supports a “federal jobs guarantee,” a Harris campaign spokesman said, on condition of anonymity. Washington Examiner on wednesday.

Citing an anonymous election official, The New York Times report On Monday, Harris said that she now (1) supports fracking, (2) wants more funding for the border, (3) doesn’t want to require people to sell assault weapons to the government, and (4) no longer supports “single-payer health care.”

Neither Harris nor her campaign aides have fully embraced the change in policy positions in public statements, raising questions about what her true position is.

Harris’ list of radical policies includes:

  1. To support “Some form of compensation”
  2. Co-sponsored bills To protect illegal immigrants from deportation
