Kamala Harris to Appear on “Late Show with Stephen Colbert”
Former Vice President Kamala Harris is set to join “Late Show with Stephen Colbert” shortly after the launch of her new book this Thursday night.
This will mark her first in-studio interview since her defeat in the 2024 election. Harris will appear on the CBS show, which has been a major topic of discussion recently, especially following the unexpected announcement of its cancellation earlier this month.
The book, titled “107 Days,” serves as a condensed memoir detailing her experience during the presidential campaign that began after then-President Joe Biden was removed from the Democratic ticket. Ultimately, she lost to President Donald Trump.
Interestingly, Harris recently confirmed that she will not be running for governor of California in 2026. Before her vice presidential role, she served as a U.S. Senator for the state.
Colbert has been vocal about his feelings toward Trump, even telling him to “show yourself” following the cancellation announcement.
Harris’s book is set to be published by Simon & Schuster on September 23. In a statement, Simon & Schuster CEO Jonathan Carp praised the memoir, claiming, “’107 Days’ captures the drama of running for President like no other book I’ve read. It’s among the best political non-fiction works ever released, showcasing eyewitness accounts and extraordinary stories.”
Back in mid-July, Colbert shared that his show would be ending in May 2026. It’s anticipated that Harris’s segment won’t be a standard interview—Colbert has been an open supporter of hers during the 2024 election, often using his platform to highlight Democratic voices. Just recently, one of his guests was Senator Elissa Slotkin from Michigan, and on the night of his cancellation announcement, Senator Adam Schiff from California appeared on the show.
Critics of CBS’s parent company, Paramount, are speculating that Colbert’s show may have faced cancellation due to its political stances.
Colbert has also made light of the ongoing tensions with Paramount regarding Trump’s lawsuit connected to an interview with Harris featured on “60 Minutes.” Trump alleged election interference, and the matter was settled prior to Paramount’s $8 billion merger with SkyDance Media, which has been put on hold.
While Colbert’s cancellation seems to be a premeditated decision, it’s worth noting that his show costs the network upwards of $40 million annually.
