Kamala Harris’s Claim that She Worked at McDonald’s Is Under Scrutiny

When she was running for president in 2019, then-US Senator Kamala Harris suddenly claimed a very relatable experience: She'd worked at McDonald's while in college.

After two decades in the public eye, including writing two books that made no mention of her work at McDonald's, she suddenly found herself at the center of her campaign when she lost the 2019 presidential election.

“I heard a rumor that you used to work at McDonald's?” says sycophantic Drew Barrymore. asked Harris appeared on Barrymore's trashy daytime talk show in 2019.

“Yeah, yeah, I worked at McDonald's,” Harris admitted. “I did frying fries when I was in college, and then I worked as a cashier.”

Barrymore's eyes widened as she replied, “I never knew that about you.”

It's a mystery: where did Barrymore “hear” the “rumor”?

As Vice President Kamala Harris runs for president, she continues to make this claim. POLITICO Eruption On top of that:

The ad's voiceover emphasized that Harris was working at McDonald's to help pay for her college tuition, but that wasn't accurate: She was actually just working a summer job to earn a little extra pocket money.

The ad was quickly re-edited, but it was just another problem to resolve in a rapidly evolving presidential campaign realigned around a new candidate. But aides agreed that, aside from the confusion, it was a small but important part of Ms. Harris' background: They wanted voters to know that she had worked at McDonald's.

but.

Kamala's claims are now facing intense scrutiny, thanks in large part to some stellar journalism from the Washington Free Beacon.

Despite intensive efforts to verify McDonald's work, the Free Beacon found no evidence to support CacklyMcNeverBorderCzar's claims.

“It's possible that Harris worked at McDonald's in the early 1980s,” the Free Beacon reports, “but the lack of details in public records and her campaign's reluctance to divulge them raise doubts.[.]”

“Monday, The New York Times According to the report, which did not cite sources, after Harris moved to Canada,[ed] “While in college, she went to the Bay Area for a summer break and worked at a McDonald's in Alameda, a town next to Oakland,” the Free Beacon added. “Harris attended Howard University in Washington, D.C.”

“If some job details differ and others are unclear, that may be because there is no record of Ms. Harris mentioning a job at McDonald's prior to the June 2019 workers' rally in Las Vegas.”

Neither of her memoirs (one published in 2010, the other in 2019) mentions that summer job.

The most conclusive evidence uncovered by the Free Beacon came in the form of a job application from 1987. As a second-year law student, Harris applied for “a law clerk position in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.”

The application requires applicants to “describe all positions held within the past 10 years.” Harris did not mention any work experience at McDonald's that would qualify for the 10-year limit.

She listed an office job she held for only a month, as well as “small life experiences.”[s] Her resume includes posts from India, Africa, [and] “I lived in Europe and then Montreal, Canada, for six years,” but McDonald's never interested me.

The Free Beacon reached out to Harris' campaign for more details about her time at McDonald's but has not heard back after two weeks.

The Free Beacon is right. It may turn out that Harris once worked at McDonald's. But two news organizations, far-left news organizations, pretending to be serious about reporting, POLITICO And the far left The New York Times — Reporting key details about a presidential candidate's background without fact-checking them.

If Harris were found to have lied about her job at McDonald's, the media would ignore it, as if someone who lies about things that don't really matter would not lie about her policy positions on things that matter: a ban on fracking, an electric vehicle mandate, further opening up our southern border to the Third World, and stripping all Americans of private insurance through Medicare for All.

The Democrats certainly did well.
