Kamala’s 2019 Positions Pretty Incredible, ‘Much More Liberal’

CNN host Erin Burnett said on “OutFront” Monday that Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris' positions during the 2019 presidential campaign were “much more liberal.”

Barnett wrote, “For the first time, Kamala Harris has detailed her policy platform on her campaign website. AK Files research uncovered a 2019 questionnaire in which Harris laid out a fairly liberal position on immigration issues. In 2019, KFILE uncovered, Harris said she would cut funding to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, writing, “I believe the immigration system is out of control and that the unjust incarceration of thousands of individuals, families and children must end. I was one of the first senators to advocate for cutting funding to Immigration and Customs Enforcement after President Trump was elected.” Now, of course, Harris is touting the Biden administration's executive orders for border enforcement, which Andrew Kaczynski from KFile joins me now, and that alone is pretty incredible. If we're talking about what we found about Immigration and Customs Enforcement here, what else have you found?”

Kaczynski said, “This is a questionnaire that she filled out for the ACLU. This questionnaire is an interesting snapshot of the 2019 Democratic primary. Kamala Harris was trying to be to the left of Bernie Sanders. She was trying to be to the left of Elizabeth Warren. And that shows up in a lot of these answers. I want to give our viewers a little glimpse into what she said. Let's take immigration and look at what she said. On immigration, she said she made an open-ended pledge to end immigrant detention. She said she supports taxpayer-funded sex reassignment surgery for detained immigrants.”

“Taxpayer-funded sex-change operations for immigrants in detention? Did she really say she supports that?” Barnett said.

“She responded affirmatively when asked this question, and in writing, and she also stated that she would support inmates in federal prisons. She also committed to reducing immigration detention by 50%, closing all family and individual facilities, reducing funding for ICE, and working with local law enforcement to end ICE detention,” Kaczynski said.

“So these are things that you would never think of, that taxpayers would fund the sex reassignment of immigrants in custody, but as you say, both in writing and verbally,” Barnett said.
