Kamala Harris' senior campaign adviser complains that Wednesday's much-anticipated Fox News interview with Harris was an “ambush” as Fox's Bret Baier repeatedly pressured Harris to answer questions directly said.
Former President Barack Obama's campaign chief David Plouffe, who joined Harris' presidential campaign in August, appeared to grow frustrated with Harris' inability to answer Baier's questions about her background. The charges were filed after a 30-minute interview.
“Kamala Harris (strong) handled the Fox ambush interview light years better than Donald Trump's (unstable) hash made at a Fox pep rally disguised as a town hall,” Proof said. Mr. tweeted After the interview broadcast.
Wednesday's interview was an expected moment in Harris' short campaign. Harris has shied away from press conferences and tough interviews, but only recently — after a small post-Democratic National Convention polling boost fizzled out — has been giving regular interviews with usually friendly podcasters or Democrats. I chose to sit in on the interview. -Friendly interviewer.
Wednesday's Fox interview was a notable change, and perhaps an experiment, for the vice president's campaign as it seeks to reverse the vice president's slowdown in the final days of the campaign.
But instead of answering candid questions about her career, Ms. Harris repeatedly pivoted to Mr. Trump.
Mr. Trump has given regular interviews and fielded questions from the media during the campaign, including a wide-ranging interview with Bloomberg News Editor-in-Chief John Micklethwait on Tuesday.
As Ms. Harris' polling in key battleground states worsens, her campaign is trying to paint Mr. Trump as “unstable,” as Plouffe put it in a tweet. Ms. Harris on Wednesday echoed attacks on Mr. Trump by senior advisers, often completely ignoring questions about her record.
At one point, after Harris was again pressed on how she would turn the page from the Biden-Harris administration, an exasperated Harris responded. “You and I both know what I'm talking about.”
“Actually, that's not the case,” Mr. Baier interjected. “What are you talking about?”
