Keisha Lance Bottoms, a senior adviser to Harris Waltz, said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that Vice President Kamala Harris’ rise since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race has been “God’s timing.”
Moderator Nicolle Wallace said, “It’s really amazing that we’re in this situation where we haven’t even had a debate. What the Harris-Waltz campaign has managed to do in the short time that they’ve both been running as candidates is a true communications masterclass. The vice president has grabbed the freedom position with a little help from Beyoncé. The idea that you can fight and win, and nine really great years of work on how to deal with Donald Trump, has been addressed in five weeks: cut him down to size and treat him like the bully he is.”
Bottoms said, “It was like God’s timing. Everything worked out perfectly. The key is, we need that momentum. We need to keep it going. It’s great to be excited to be in this arena and in this city full of energy, but now we need to take it back to the community. It’s not over until it’s over, but this is a great way to kick off the rest of the election season.”
