Wichita, Kansas – Authorities in Kansas are actively searching for a woman who was forcefully taken from a home in a situation that was recorded and has since gone viral.
At a recent news conference, police officials confirmed that they have not yet identified the woman shown in the footage, which was captured early Sunday morning near 14th Street and North Volzia in northeast Wichita.
In light of the circumstances, the Wichita Police Department has announced a $2,000 reward through CrimeStoppers for any information that could help identify the individuals featured in the video.
“Our primary concern is ensuring the safety of this woman,” stated WPD Lt. Aaron Moses.
The doorbell camera video released by the police depicts a woman shouting for help as a man seizes her from behind and leads her away.
A local resident shared her experience with Nexstar’s KSN, expressing distress over what she witnessed and noting that she preferred not to appear on camera during the interview.
She communicated her unfamiliarity with the woman in the video or the circumstances leading to her arrival at the residence.
Neighbors expressed their concerns as well, describing how the woman’s desperate screams unsettled the community.
“We’re all worried,” said nearby resident Shauntrice Beard, who has been in the area for over a year. “It’s shocking to see something like this happen right here. While some things do occur, this is unusual.”
Beard, who lives close to the incident site, had driven by to investigate further.
“I feel like we all need to get more involved in our community because this could be anyone’s mother, sister, or grandchild,” she remarked.
Beard added, “If it were me, I’d want the community to look into this deeply.”
“We need to stand together,” she concluded.
