That’s his name, don’t wear it out.
Kanye West’s chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, requested in a letter that Kanye West be called Ye instead of his “slave name.”
“You are one of the most famous people in the world, along with presidents and the pope,” the letter, obtained by Page Six, said.
“He did not lightly accept the decision to change the name, which would potentially sacrifice some of the tremendous value of the ‘Kanye West’ brand. This change was completely, legally and And it was done permanently. This is him now. His name is Ye.”
Yiannopoulos, 39, wrote that he is calling for changes to be made because “streaming platforms, publishers, stores, unions, lyrics sites, and data resellers” are some of the “most visible places.”
“He referred to it several times as the name of his slave,” the letter continued. “You are a black man in America who wants full self-determination just like everyone else.”
The far-right political commentator’s memo comes more than two years after a Los Angeles judge approved the “All of the Lights” rapper’s legal name change.
In August 2021, West, 46, claimed in court documents that he was changing his name for “personal reasons.”
