Amber Rose has confessed to playing a role in Kanye West’s notorious outburst at the 2009 VMAs.
In a recent podcast episode, Rose, 42, mentioned that she got West riled up and handed him alcohol before he famously interrupted Taylor Swift, who was just 19 at the time and had won for Best Female Video.
Rose recalled telling him, “You’re the King Superstar. You just need a shot of Henny on the carpet,” just before the event. This conversation took place on the podcast “Ball in the Family” with Lonzo and LiAngelo Ball.
She reflected on how it all spiraled, saying it “backfired” when she saw West take the stage unexpectedly. “I wasn’t expecting that,” she remarked, remembering the moment clearly.
She added, “That’s just Kanye’s personality. Do I agree with the way he did it? Not really. But do I think he was right? Sure. That’s how I feel about it.” Rose noted that she’s actually spoken to Swift since then, and there’s no bad blood between them.
The infamous stage interruption had lasting repercussions, sparking a long-term dispute between West and Swift. Recently, the pop star even made a comment about West during her 2023 tour.
West, 48, had a romantic relationship with Rose from 2008 to 2010. Their split reportedly involved West’s growing interest in Kim Kardashian.
Back in 2012, Rose publicly criticized Kardashian, labeling her a “home destroyer.” West and Kardashian’s relationship lasted until early 2021 before being finalized.
As for West’s current marital status, he has parted ways with Bianca Censori, an architect involved with Yeezy.
Rose’s break from West led her to marry rapper Wiz Khalifa in 2013, although they divorced the following year. They share a son, Sebastian Taylor Thomas, age 13.
She later married Alexander “AE” Edwards, with whom she has a 6-year-old son named Slash Electric Alexander Edwards.
Throughout the years, Rose has also been associated with a few other rappers, including 21 Savage and MGK.
