Karen Read displayed a sinister smile as graphic images of her deceased police officer boyfriend were presented in court.

Karen Reed displayed a troubling smirk during a retrial concerning the murders in Massachusetts on Tuesday. That same day, the jury was presented with a shocking photo of her boyfriend’s battered body.

It was quite graphic, really—John O’Keefe’s injured and bloodied body was brought to the jury’s attention.

Elizabeth Laposata, who is a forensic pathologist defending Reed, asserted that there was no sign of a car-related incident and questioned the claim that hypothermia contributed to the death of the 46-year-old.

“There was no hypothermia in my body,” Laposata testified, arguing that additional markings on O’Keefe’s arm appeared to be from animal bites or claws prior to his death.

Interestingly, Daniel Wolf, an accident reconstructionist who had previously testified against Reed, now supported her assertion, suggesting that broken glass from her SUV played a role.

Reed, 45, faces accusations of deliberately running over O’Keefe, who died in January 2022 during a drunken night of socializing. His body was found outside a friend’s house in Canton, amidst a snowstorm.

Prior to that tragic evening, the couple had a tumultuous relationship.

Reed’s initial trial ended in confusion last summer, as jurors were unable to reach a consensus on charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter.

Defense claims suggest that O’Keefe may have been assaulted by a police associate and left in the snow, with allegations that his friends sought to manipulate the narrative.

Additionally, her late boyfriend is said to have been bitten by a dog belonging to one of those friends before his demise.

As the trial enters its final weeks, the testimony continues to unfold.
