Kari Lake settles election defamation lawsuit by Republican official

Kali Lake has settled an election defamation lawsuit brought by local election officials in Arizona.

Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer (R) sued Lake last year, claiming that Lake defamed him by refusing to acknowledge his loss in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election and his failure to admit election fraud. Ta.

According to Maricopa County Superior Court filings, all parties have reached an “agreed settlement disposition.”

“Both parties are satisfied with the outcome,” Richer said in a text message to the Post.

Richer alleged in his lawsuit that Lake consistently and systematically lied about his actions as county recorder and subjected him to harassment and threats on his life.

The Hill reached out to Lake for comment, but a top adviser to her 2024 campaign declined to comment to The Post.

Mr. Lake ran unsuccessfully for the Arizona Senate. She lost last week to Sen.-elect Ruben Gallego, who represents the state's 3rd Congressional District.
