Carine Jean-Pierre, the former White House press secretary, apparently had aspirations to become a co-host on “The View” after her tenure with the Biden administration, according to a report from Politico referencing a former Biden official.
She was interested in joining the ranks of the liberal ABC News talk show, where her predecessor, Jen Psaki, currently hosts a program on MSNBC.
In a recent announcement for her new book, titled *Independence: The Outer of the Broken White House Outside the Party*, Jean-Pierre revealed her shift away from the Democratic Party, declaring herself independent.
During her time as press secretary, she made several appearances on “The View,” so it makes sense that she would seek a more permanent role there.
After President Biden wrapped up the 2024 race, her first interview was with the show’s host in New York. However, Politico noted that the opportunity to join “The View” ultimately did not materialize.
Since 2022, the show has maintained a consistent roster of six co-hosts, adding Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro to the established group that includes Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, and Sunny Hostin.
Once Biden’s administration ended, Jean-Pierre’s first television interview took place in March, a significant moment as it marked her return to the spotlight.
Interestingly, she was asked whether she believed Biden could have defeated Trump if she had stayed in the race, given her previous role in the Trump administration. She mostly sidestepped the question, ultimately stating, “I don’t know what’s going to happen. I really do—whoever they do, they really don’t know, so I don’t want to rehash the past.”
Previously, Jean-Pierre critiqued a Democrat who spoke to Biden after last year’s debate, referring to them as part of the “dismissal squad.”
Axios reported that Jean-Pierre had initially aimed to appear on “The View” as often as she did during her term—approximately once a week.
Neither “The View” nor Jean-Pierre provided immediate comments in response to inquiries. On Instagram, Jean-Pierre, who has a history as a spokesperson for both left and right advocacy groups, suggested that books don’t necessarily reflect a “partisan stance.”
However, she has faced criticism from various former Biden officials, with some sources labeling her book a “graft” and describing it as a “strange cash grab.”
