On Monday, former White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre engaged in a discussion with Tim Miller from Bulwark regarding President Joe Biden’s press interactions. This conversation took place during a podcast that Miller hosted to promote his new memoir, “The Independent,” which reflects on his experiences in the Biden administration.
Miller expressed criticism over Biden’s communication abilities and inquired about his age. In response, Jean-Pierre shared that she had never discussed Biden’s age with him but maintained that the President effectively conveyed his thoughts, regardless of whether messages resonated widely.
Miller pushed back, stating that Biden had engaged less with the press than former President Donald Trump. He contended that Biden wasn’t very available and had not participated in press conferences, which he implied was an issue, suggesting the former President seemed “old and weak” when he did speak.
Jean-Pierre interrupted, insisting that Miller was mixing facts. She argued that Biden regularly addressed the nation, claiming he communicated with the public several times a week and traveled extensively, even amid the current politically charged atmosphere.
Earlier, Jean-Pierre defended Biden’s mental acuity on “CBS Mornings,” despite ongoing reports about his declining health during his presidency. She described him as passionate and knowledgeable, emphasizing his commitment to policy and history.
Throughout her role as press secretary, Jean-Pierre has consistently defended Biden’s mental health, even following challenging circumstances like the June 2024 presidential debate.
