Karl Rove does his best Trump impression

Political strategist Karl Rove performed an impersonation of former President Trump at the Atlantic Festival on Friday.

In a conversation with Atlantic reporter Elena Plott Calabro and Democratic political strategist David Axelrod, Rove, a former deputy chief of staff in the Bush administration, mimicked the presidential candidate's stance on IVF, quoted his inaugural address and mimicked comments he's made about transgender athletes in sports.

Loeb began his talk with a line about in vitro fertilization, which elicited laughter from the audience.

“Everyone should have access to IVF,” he said, referring to President Trump's push that under his leadership the government and insurance companies would pay for the treatment.

Loeb then joked to the audience, “Don't do that, it just encourages me,” before continuing with the impersonation.

“That's my favorite line from his acceptance speech,” he said, before launching into an impersonation, “We'll cure Alzheimer's and cancer, and men won't be able to play women's sports.”

Rove was referring to Trump's speech at the Republican National Convention this summer. Jumped from topic to topic During the 90-minute speech.

“When I wake up in the morning, the two are in front of me and they are inseparably linked,” Loeb said in his own voice.

President Trump has repeatedly voiced his opposition to transgender protections and has vowed to roll back protections for transgender students put in place by the Biden administration, including a major overhaul of Title IX that protects transgender students from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

The former president also said transgender women should not be able to participate in girls' sports at a Mothers for Freedom rally in August, where he also advocated limiting access to gender-affirming medical care.

The Atlantic magazine Conversation about XThe video ends with Loeb teasing the audience with an impersonation of Bill Clinton.

The Trump campaign did not respond to The Hill's request for comment at time of publication.
