Arrest Following Courthouse Confrontation

A man was apprehended after a tense altercation outside the courthouse, where Carmelo Anthony was found guilty of first-degree murder. This incident unfolded amid rising racial tensions concerning the highly publicized trial.

The Collin County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday that 27-year-old Winston Jerome Parker was taken into custody near the courthouse due to an outstanding warrant related to illegal gun possession.

Parker’s arrest occurred only hours after he was seen on video confronting another individual in the courthouse parking lot, aggressively pointing at him during a racially charged protest supporting Anthony. This took place shortly after Anthony was convicted for the stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalfe on April 2, 2025.

Authorities indicated that the recent charges involved activities related to the court proceedings connected to Anthony’s murder case on Tuesday.

Social media platforms showcased various altercations as Anthony received a 35-year prison sentence for the murder of Metcalfe.

In a separate incident within the courthouse, a man identified as Shodon Daniels—a former candidate in the Republican primary for Texas’s 30th Congressional District—was detained and cited for public intoxication. Current records show he remains in custody, held on a $500 bond.

Daniels expressed his thoughts on his X account, vehemently condemning Anthony’s actions while indicating that race played a pivotal role in the case.

“I’m a lawyer in Collin County, Texas. Carmelo Anthony will be convicted and sentenced to life in prison. No wonder he killed that boy because he was raised to hate white people and see himself as a victim in every situation. It’s a cultural issue.”

Parker is currently being held on a $1,000 bond, according to jail records.
