FBI Director Warns of Sleeper Cell Threat

In Allentown, Pennsylvania, FBI Director Kash Patel expressed serious concerns on Wednesday regarding the real threat posed by sleeper cells in the U.S. This warning echoed the sentiments of Sen. David McCormick (R-Pennsylvania), who linked these dangers to previous border policies, suggesting that Democrats have compromised homeland security in their funding disputes.

With rising fears about the potential for sleeper cells amidst escalating tensions with Iran, FOX News Digital urged Patel to reassess the Biden administration’s focus, which has prioritized white supremacy as the leading domestic threat. Patel cited recent attacks as a stark reminder of the increasing peril from terrorism connected to foreign entities.

“President Trump made it clear that protecting our homeland should be a priority,” Patel stated. He referenced tragic incidents in Virginia and Michigan, highlighting that such events could be avoided if convicted terrorists served their sentences.

Patel and McCormick addressed these issues while at a federal courthouse in Allentown, following a discussion on fentanyl enforcement.

The discussion included mention of Mohamed Jallow, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Sierra Leone, who was involved in a shooting at Old Dominion University in Norfolk last month. Jallow had previously been convicted of supporting ISIS.

Additionally, federal officials recently reported that Ayman Mohammad Ghazali was radicalized by Iranian-backed Hezbollah and is accused of crashing his vehicle into a synagogue filled with children in West Bloomfield, Michigan.

McCormick pointed out that numerous individuals on the terrorism watch list have infiltrated the U.S. while the Biden administration was in power. He expressed concern about these cases going largely unchecked, suggesting that despite some efforts to secure the borders, serious issues still remain.

The Biden administration’s approach has predominantly focused on white supremacy as the main threat. In a public address, the President affirmed his commitment to prioritize what he considers the most dangerous threats, specifically citing white supremacy.

In a Homeland Security hearing, Chairman August Pflueger (R-Texas) noted that during fiscal years 2021 to 2024, the number of individuals on the terrorism watch list attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexico border has been significant, contrasting sharply with the previous administration’s figures.

At the same time, the Department of Homeland Security is feeling the effects of a spending freeze enforced by Democrats. This has hampered operations within the agency, impacting salaries and resources for the TSA and others.

Patel emphasized the importance of collaboration with the FBI’s task forces, indicating that any delays in salaries for DHS personnel can create opportunities for criminal elements. He urged that funding for DHS must be prioritized, contending that opposing it means opposing law enforcement.

McCormick further criticized the ongoing government shutdown, calling it “irresponsible and shameful,” particularly in light of the conflict with Iran. He accused Democrats, particularly Chuck Schumer, of using DHS funding as a political tool, which he labeled as unacceptable.

As the shutdown reaches its 49th day, it reportedly affects over 200,000 employees within the DHS. McCormick expressed his frustration at what he perceives as shifting goals obstructing progress, deeming it disgraceful.
