All-Star Event Marking Final Appearance for Verlander
This family event at the All-Star red carpet in Philadelphia was quite special.
Kate Upton and Justin Verlander made a rare appearance on Tuesday night, dressed up for what is expected to be Verlander’s last All-Star Game.
Upton, 34, opted for a stylish off-the-shoulder white dress paired with gold heels and sunglasses. Verlander, 43, complemented her in a blue suit with a white shirt and his own sunglasses.
Their daughter, Genevieve, born in 2018, looked adorable in a white two-piece outfit, complemented by a headband and silver shoes. Meanwhile, Verlander held their son, Bellamy, who was dressed in brown overalls.
Verlander’s family gathered to support him after he shared his retirement announcement on social media last week.
In his message, Verlander expressed gratitude for being selected to participate in the All-Star Game, calling it a significant honor. He mentioned how this season presented challenges like never before but emphasized that he didn’t want to retire based on a milestone or a specific date. Rather, he felt it was time, as the moments in recent months made that clear.
He also expressed his appreciation for his family, especially Upton. His heartfelt thanks included recognizing her support throughout his career.
Upton and Verlander first met while filming a commercial in 2012 and got engaged in 2016. They married on November 4, 2017, just after Verlander celebrated a World Series win with the Astros.
Their daughter Genevieve arrived just three days after their first wedding anniversary in 2018.
Verlander, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, earned his 10th All-Star selection in his final season, although he didn’t play due to an ongoing hamstring issue. This season has largely been plagued by injuries for him.
Despite the challenges, he took in the lively atmosphere at Citizens Bank Park, appreciating this event as a player one last time.
