Katharine McPhee didn’t think Russell Brand meant any malicious intent when he pulled her to sit on his lap during a 2013 interview with Jimmy Fallon. According to the Daily Mail.
“This particular incident happened over 10 years ago and was harmless,” the singer-songwriter said after the clip went viral amid recent sexual abuse allegations against Brando, according to the outlet.
Representatives for Mr. McPhee, 39, did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The “American Idol” alum’s comments come after fans criticized an uncomfortable moment that occurred when both Brando and McPhee appeared on “The Tonight Show” more than a decade ago. .
Re-released footage showed McPhee walking up to greet Fallon when Brand grabbed McPhee’s arm and pulled him to sit on his lap.
He then hugged her from behind and grabbed her waist while she tried to wrestle away from him.

The disturbing footage resurfaced after multiple women accused the now 48-year-old actor of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse.

Brando’s comedy tour has been postponed since the accusations came to light.
