Kathie Lee Gifford Excited for Thanksgiving with Family
Kathie Lee Gifford is eagerly anticipating Thanksgiving this year, cherishing the chance to celebrate with her loved ones. In a recent conversation, the 72-year-old TV personality expressed her affection for the holiday, noting that it’s her favorite because it focuses on “fellowship with loved ones and friends” rather than material things.
Gifford enjoys the holiday cooking ritual, often beginning her preparations three days ahead of time. She makes it a point to create all the traditional dishes her mother used to make. “My mom couldn’t even boil water when I got married at 19, but her stuffing is truly something else. And I also whip up the yam soufflés, gravy, and mashed potatoes,” she shared. This Thanksgiving, she plans to be with her daughter, her son-in-law, and their two young children, bringing along pre-cooked dishes to enjoy together.
Although she can’t be with her two children on the day, Gifford is grateful for the time spent with family. “It’s really all about being with the people I love,” she said. Reflecting on the significance of family recipes, she added, “What stays is what really matters. A lot of those recipes will live on long after I’m gone.” Gifford lost her husband, Frank, in August 2015, and she thoughtfully remembers the love and traditions they created together.
As she marked the 10th anniversary of Frank’s passing, she shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. “He went home to be with Jesus 10 years ago today, and ever since then, he has been filled with peace and joy,” she wrote. “I find comfort in that.” In reminiscence, she expressed gratitude for the years they shared and for their children, Cassidy and Cody, as well as her grandchildren who carry on Frank’s legacy.
Gifford notes that she speaks with Frank daily, thanking him for their time together and the beautiful family he helped create. “It’s the small things,” she reflected, smiling at her grandchildren who remind her of him, particularly when she sees his features in their faces.
