Katie Ginella let go from 'RHOC' after two seasons

Katie Ginella Announces Departure from “The Real Housewives of Orange County”

On Friday, Katie Ginella took to social media to share that she will not be returning for the upcoming season of “The Real Housewives of Orange County.” In her post, she expressed disappointment but indicated that the news wasn’t entirely unexpected given the events of the previous season.

“After two seasons on RHOC, the network has chosen to proceed with Season 20 without me,” she shared. “It’s disappointing, but not surprising based on how things unfolded.” She also conveyed gratitude for the support she received and emphasized the importance of representation.

“Representation matters, and I’m proud of how I represented myself, even when it was challenging,” she continued. Despite this chapter closing, she assured her followers that her story will continue.

In the Instagram post, Katie included a serene photo of herself in a striking hot pink dress and simply added an orange heart emoji to the caption.

Co-star Tamra Judge was quick to comment, saying, “I love you 🩷 I appreciate our friendship!” Katie’s husband, Matt, also expressed his support, writing, “Love you more than ever. 🙏 Move forward! (with a lot less tears and toxicity).” Many fans responded with heartbroken emojis, with one follower lamenting, “Aww Katy 😢😢 I loved what you brought to the table.”

Katie joined “RHOC” in its 18th season but faced various challenges bonding with other cast members, despite her friendship with Judge. Notably, her daughter had a public spat with Emily Simpson, and during a lie detector test in Season 19, Katie was questioned about leaks and didn’t pass.

In August 2025, Katie spoke out against co-stars Gretchen Rossi and Jennifer Pedranti for creating what she labeled a “hurtful” and racially insensitive video, which was taken down shortly after it was posted.

In an on-camera statement, she remarked, “There’s a very inappropriate video circulating of two girls squinting in mockery of Asian culture.” She expressed her feelings about the video, saying it was hurtful, particularly in the context of her being the first Asian American cast member in “RHOC.”

Reflecting on her experience, she noted, “I’m the first Asian American in ‘Orange County.’ I’m the first Korean adoptee, and the emotions related to being chosen from this cast are far too familiar.” While Rossi defended the video, stating it was not meant to be offensive, Katie felt it resonated with her personal experiences.
