Katy Perry Expresses Anger Over Illegal Migrants Being 'Hunted Like Criminals in Their Own Ancestral Home'

Katy Perry’s Views on Immigration and California’s History

Pop star Katy Perry has recently expressed strong sentiments regarding illegal immigrants, stating that they are “hunted like criminals in their ancestor’s homes,” suggesting that the lands in California, particularly Los Angeles, rightfully belong to them.

In a series of Instagram Stories posted on Tuesday, Perry highlighted the notion that illegal immigrants are descendants of those who contributed to California’s development. She remarked, “Los Angeles is under three flags: Spain, Mexico, and the United States. The area has a rich history filled with power, transformation, and people—especially those of indigenous and brown communities. Yet, in 2025, the descendants of these very groups find themselves persecuted as if they are criminals in their own homes.”

Her message continued, emphasizing the perceived injustice: “It’s not just infuriating; it’s profoundly unjust. How can a city that thrives on Mexican labor, history, and culture turn around to vilify those who have played a role in shaping it?”

Perry went on to assert that California used to be Mexican land, implying that the U.S. had somehow taken it. “The individuals being targeted today are often descendants of those who have lived here for generations or who came seeking safety and dignity,” she noted. “Many undocumented immigrants quietly contribute to the workforce, support their families, pay taxes, and serve their communities, yet they face slander and a loss of dignity.”

Her posts concluded with a call for reform but, interestingly, she did not address the complexities involved in handling millions of individuals who have entered the United States illegally over the last few years.
