Katy Perry experienced a disturbing moment during a recent performance on her “Lifetime Tour.”
The 40-year-old singer was joined by fans to sing her 2011 hit “The One That Got Away” at Little Caesar Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Things took a turn when she handed out shakers to the audience, and a young girl named McKenna suddenly collapsed on stage.
Perry quickly knelt beside McKenna, while venue staff and medical personnel rushed to assist the situation.
At the same time, around 13,000 spectators showed their support by chanting McKenna’s name.
Once McKenna was taken off stage, Perry hugged the remaining fans and led a moment of prayer. “Dear God, we pray for McKenna. We pray that she will be brighter and better when she returns. Amen,” she expressed.
Perry reflected, “Sometimes you’re so brave to get on stage, and it can be overwhelming; I totally understand that.” She then resumed playing “What the Runaway” before escorting the three fans off stage.
After the show, Perry reassured the crowd, stating, “McKenna is doing well,” and even called out her name after performing “Roar.”
Perry’s representatives were contacted for comments about the incident.
The “Lifetime Tour” began in Mexico City on April 23 and is set to continue in Abu Dhabi until December 7.
In another recent show on July 18 in San Francisco, Perry had a moment of panic when some large butterfly props malfunctioned mid-performance. She temporarily stopped singing but quickly regained her composure and continued to engage her audience.
On another note, it appears there are some dating rumors surrounding Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. They were recently seen dining together in Montreal, which sparked quite a bit of interest.
Sources suggested that there was an “instant connection” between the two, but it seems they are taking things slow, considering Perry’s busy touring schedule.
Earlier this summer, Perry and her fiancé Orlando Bloom parted ways. They share a four-year-old daughter named Daisy Dub.
