Katy Perry Hesitant About Another Las Vegas Residency
Pop star Katy Perry seems to be steering clear of a new residency in Las Vegas, possibly due to the lackluster reception of her previous one.
Her contract with the Resort World ended in 2024 after three years, and according to sources, she plans to hold only one performance in Las Vegas moving forward, as reported by News Nation.
There was initially significant competition between Resort World and Caesars, but it appears Caesars ultimately gained the upper hand. However, the residency at Resort World was described as a major flop, with reports indicating Perry was compensated between $750,000 and $900,000 for her efforts.
Footage from her 2021 show featured elements like dancers, large rubber ducks, massive toilets, and talking surgical masks, which contributed to mixed reviews.
Perry faced significant backlash following her excursion on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin and a poorly received world tour, which the Daily Mail labeled as “miserable.” Critics had largely dismissed her latest album, which she was promoting during the tour that began after her space flight.
The tour has been hampered by a number of challenges, including a delayed start that resulted in fans standing for hours in Minnesota.
Breitbart News noted that after her return from space, Perry playfully kissed the ground. The site remarked that this new wave of space tourism is increasingly accessible to affluent individuals, allowing them to experience zero gravity, a domain once reserved for professional astronauts.
Upon touching down, she humorously asked if she could send Wendy’s, the fast-food chain, back to space. In an amusing twist, Wendy’s even referenced her hit song “I Kissed a Girl,” altering it to say, “I Kissed the Ground and I Liked It.”
