Mayor Quinton Lucas said Wednesday on X, formerly known as Twitter, that some crime trends show that while “non-fatal shootings are down this year compared to last year, other crimes such as homicides are down. “Trends have reached new highs and are moving in the right direction.” Help us build safer cities in 2024. ”

Meanwhile, in St. Louis, Missouri's second-largest city, there were 158 homicides statewide last year, 42 fewer than the 200 in 2022, Mayor Tishaura Jones' office announced Tuesday. In St. Louis, mass shootings are down 24%, and the number of youth victims is down 50% from the previous year.
