INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Hollywood Star Keanu Reeves He made his professional auto racing debut at Saturday's event. Star of “The Matrix” It spun out at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Reeves spun into the grass on the halfway exit of Turn 9 without colliding. 45 minute race. He got back into the car, showed himself unharmed, and continued driving.
Reeves, who qualified 31st out of 35 cars, moved up to 21st and successfully avoided a crash at Turn 14 on the first lap. Reaves finished 25th.
Reeves, 60, is competing at Indianapolis in the Toyota GR Cup, Toyota's spec racing series and support series for this weekend's sports car event, the Indy 8 Hours. He has his second race scheduled for Sunday.
Reeves is driving the No. 92 BRZRKR promoting his graphic novel “The Book of Elsewhere.” He is teammates with Cody Jones. “It’s perfect.”
Reeves has racing experience having previously competed in the celebrity race Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Reeves won this event in 2009.
He is scheduled to attend the 30th anniversary screening of Speed in Los Angeles on Tuesday, along with co-star Sandra Bullock.
