Kelly Ripa Misunderstands “Naked Flight” Trend
Television host Kelly Ripa recently discovered she had a different interpretation of the popular travel trend circulating online.
On a recent episode of “Let’s Live with Kelly and Mark,” Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, discussed the term “naked flight,” which has become a talking point on social media.
Initially, Ripa thought it referred to a more personal choice regarding clothing while flying.
She stated, “I don’t wear a bra on a plane. I just refuse. Life feels difficult. What’s the point?”
Eventually, Ripa learned that “flying naked” actually means traveling without any luggage, rather than going without clothes. She mentioned that perhaps this could be the year she’d give it a shot.
She explained this trend involves boarding a plane with just the essentials in your pockets, like a cell phone or wallet.
Consuelos raised a valid point about what travelers would do upon arrival if they had no luggage. Some people wash clothes in hotel sinks, while others buy clothes at their destinations or even thrift stores and either bring them back or ship them home.
There’s a lot of chatter online about how folks manage clothing and other necessities during their trips, with some travelers vouching for the ease and savings of zero-baggage travel.
However, it’s worth noting that the strategy can sometimes end up costing more than the hassle of baggage fees, particularly for longer trips or business-related travel. Many believe it’s impractical to attempt trips without at least a small bag for vital items like laptops and chargers.
Brandon Blewett, a frequent traveler from Texas and author, suggests that having a small bag that fits under the seat can still offer the convenience of reduced stress and quicker exits without sacrificing essentials.
In the end, he claims, “The sweet spot is not flying naked; rather, it’s about traveling lightly.”
