Kelly Ripa gushed about Mark Consuelos’ “irritating” flossing on This Morning . Living with Kelly and Mark.
Ripa’s revelation came after some teasing from Consuelos, who said he thinks best while brushing his teeth.
“I noticed that when I floss, I make a cavernous noise,” she said, acknowledging that “this is off topic,” but saying that she was first reminded of this when Consuelos mentioned brushing his teeth.
Consuelos asked, “What do you mean, sounds like a cave?”
Ripa claimed the sounds he makes are “very annoying” and eventually imitated the sounds he allegedly makes when doing so. Consuelos insisted he was “doing it right” and “doing it well,” but Ripa continued her ridiculous rant, explaining that the sound of him chewing gum is also “very annoying.”
“Did you see the other day I got up and went into another room, and you were like, ‘Can I sit next to you?’ and I was like, ‘Sure,’ and you took out a stick of gum and started chewing it, and I got up, and I didn’t say anything, I just got up and went into the other room and turned on the news,” she recalled, “because I thought I couldn’t concentrate because your mouth was making this cavernous noise.”
Rather than take the criticism to heart, Consuelos hilariously adopted it as a “note to self.”
“Time to clean up your room and see what you want to see,” he teased, mimicking putting gum in his mouth.

“It’s nice to have a safe place to let all this out,” Ripa joked.
Despite the open discussion, Consuelos said, “I would change some things, but I wouldn’t change the way I floss.”
“I’m adamant,” he added with a laugh. “Look at those teeth, those gums.”
Ripa noted that her husband and now co-host has “great” teeth, but suggested he floss in one of the kids’ rooms.
“Finally we’re going to have separate bathrooms,” she teased.
Consuelos then tried to recreate what it was like, joking, “Well, one of the kids is like, ‘Dad, what are you doing in my room?’ And I’m like, ‘Shhh, floss! Don’t tell mommy, I’m taking care of my gums!'”
Ripa told viewers that she plans to record Consuelos flossing as evidence.
“We do polls: What percentage of Americans find this very offensive and irritating? And we just look at 100% versus 0%,” she added.
Still, Consuelos implied that “the frustration goes both ways.”
“If you want to play that game, go ahead and do it,” he said. “I’ll be like Francis Ford Coppola.”
Ripa still expressed doubts.
“The thing is, he doesn’t take anything. He doesn’t take anything. He doesn’t take pictures, he doesn’t take videos, so that doesn’t happen,” she elaborated. “But I do keep an eye on you.”
