Kelly Stafford took to social media to “point out a few things” about Harrison Butker’s controversial commencement speech at Benedict College last weekend. In it, he encouraged female graduates to become “housewives.”
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford’s wife rants about Chiefs kicker in speech where women tell egregious lies on social media about topics including abortion, in vitro fertilization (IVF) and surrogacy. He said he was tired.
“I want to point out a few things: It’s a choice. It’s a woman’s choice whether she’s just a mother or not,” Stafford said in a video posted by her and Hank Winchester.after the morning” podcast — adding that she is “thriving” as a housewife with four young daughters.
“It’s a woman’s choice whether to be a career woman or not. It’s a woman’s choice whether she wants to do both or do it all in balance.

“Then someone stands up in a commencement speech and says to women who have worked hard for four years, who have probably paid their bills and are now in debt, that they need a career that is their biggest success story. I think you should tell them.” I’m a mother and a wife, so don’t get me wrong. Maybe so, but it’s their choice to do so or not.
“To say that they’ve egregiously lied to me is because, you know, in a tough world, we feel like we’re always hurting each other. To uplift men and women. We want to build each other up, not tear each other down, because there are smart women who can change this world, and we want to show them that they really don’t belong in the workplace. It’s about telling.”
Stafford went on to explain why Butker’s comments about IVF in Catholic schools “hit home” for her, specifically saying: It’s time to get pregnant. ”
Butker and his wife Isabel have two children, a son and a daughter.
Stafford explained that she believes IVF is a “miracle” for people struggling to conceive.
“Moreover, I’m a very good mother and I try my best to raise my children to make this world a better place. And I’m trying my best to raise my children to make this world a better place. And I’m trying to do the same the right way, using IVF and surrogacy.” I know a lot of mothers who are raising children in the United States, so we have the right to have children,” Stafford said.

Butker also said in his speech that the LGBTQ+ community is committing a “mortal sin” by celebrating Pride.
“Hank is one of the best men I know to pass judgment on gay people. And as Christians, it’s not about passing judgment, it’s about just building each other up.” I feel like it’s a job, because at the end of the day, we don’t decide…you have to choose, so don’t let someone else tell you where you belong. Please make sure you are doing so,” Stafford said.
“…If I was sitting there and my daughters were graduating and a man stood up and said they probably don’t have any career acumen, that would be very difficult for me to handle. And I really hope that if we all come out of this and learn that women are so bright, and if we can use women’s brains and men’s brains, this world will be a better place.”
Stafford, who describes herself as a stay-at-home mom, explained that she understands that her reality is not the same as other women’s.
“It’s important to build men up, not tear them down,” she said in a note posted to her Instagram feed. “Everyone has the right to choose how they want to live their life. It’s not up to other people or society. The more society tells women where they belong, the more society tells them that. Impostor syndrome begins to spread.
“I’m happy and I’m happy at home as a housewife, but that’s not the story of all women, and it doesn’t have to be that way. Some women choose not to be at home, and some women choose not to be at home. Some women can’t afford it. We may not all agree on everything, but I think we all want the same end goal: a better world for our children. And I think supporting and encouraging men in whatever role they choose is a great first step towards that goal.”
The NFL distanced itself from Butker, saying in a statement that his values do not align with those of the three-time Super Bowl champion.
Chiefs successor Gracie Hunt defended Butker when Steve Doocy asked him about the kicker’s speech during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” on Friday.
“I can only speak from my own experience, and that is that I had the most amazing mother who had the ability to stay home and spend time with us while our children were growing up,” Hunt said. “And I understand that there are a lot of women who can’t make that decision, but I know that in my life it was really formative in shaping me and my brothers.”
Doocy then asked, “So, do you understand what he’s saying?” Hunt responded, “Of course, I have a lot of respect for Harrison and his Christian faith and what he’s accomplished on and off the field.”
