Kellyanne Conway slammed President Biden and his allies for their poor performance during Thursday’s presidential debate, calling it a “disgrace.”
“What we saw last night was not breaking news,” she said on Fox News’ “Hannity” show Friday night. “The gaslighting that we as a nation have been subjected to is an unacceptable, inexcusable disgrace.”
Conway, who served as a senior adviser to former President Trump during his first term, declared Trump the winner of the debate and suggested the focus should shift to the former president’s accomplishments.
“While there’s a lot of discussion today about who should replace Biden, I want to talk about the flip side, which is that Donald Trump won the debate,” she said.
A CNN poll conducted after the debate showed more than two-thirds of viewers said Trump won the debate.
Ahead of the debate, she told Fox News that Trump was taking debate preparation “very seriously” given his experience working on the 2016 and 2020 campaigns. While Biden spent the week before the debate preparing at Camp David, Trump continued to campaign.
“He takes this issue very seriously, but his debate prep is just about talking about the things he’s talking about: how to control inflation, what to do at the border,” she said at the time.
Conway on Friday praised Trump for his focus on key campaign issues such as immigration and the economy. She called Trump a “very complex person with very simple ideas” and Biden a “simple person with complex ideas that nobody can understand, including himself.”
“Their ways of handling the debate were so different,” Conway said. “As much as Donald Trump won the debate, Joe Biden lost it.”
