Ken Buck says he’s ‘not going to lie’ on behalf of GOP

When asked why he won’t seek re-election, Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) said on behalf of the Republican Party, “I’m not going to lie.”

Buck, who announced last November that he would not run for re-election, told NewsNation’s “The Hill Sunday” that while his goals for the country remained the same, the world around him “has changed dramatically.” ” he said.

“We’ve gone back to the days when the Tea Party was defending conservative principles and constitutional principles. [populists] They have taken over the Republican Party and are actually advocating things that I believe are very dangerous,” he told host Chris Stilwald in an interview on Sunday.

When asked why he decided to leave Congress, Buck said a variety of factors led to his decision.

“Last time, the MAGA crowd had a primary against me. They won 75-25. I don’t care. [a] In the primary, I’m not worried about losing in the general election. You know, the time has come. I’m at a point in my life where I want to do different things.I want to enjoy my family more, I want to have more fun. [do] Less business travel, more recreational travel. “There were a lot of things that went into this decision,” he said.

“But the fact is, we’re at a point in American politics right now where I’m not going to lie on behalf of a presidential candidate or my party. And as long as other people in my party get the White House, I’m not going to lie.” “It’s very unfortunate that they have taken the position that what they say doesn’t really matter,” he added.

Buck has criticized some members of his party for spreading false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Trump. Buck, who voted to certify the 2020 election results, ran for chair last fall due to concerns about Jordan’s actions surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on U.S. forces, and asked Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim. Withheld support from Jordan (R-Ohio). Houses of Parliament.

President Trump praised Buck’s decision not to seek another term, calling it a “great thing” for the Republican Party.
