Ken Paxton’s Senate Campaign Complicated by Divorce Announcement
The viability of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s bid for a U.S. Senate seat has come into question. This follows a surprising announcement from his wife, Angela, who filed for divorce on “biblical grounds.”
Paxton is currently contesting Republican Senator John Cornyn, who has held the position for 23 years. Angela shared her decision on social media, emphasizing her commitment to the sanctity of marriage. She stated that they had actively pursued reconciliation but concluded it was not respectful to themselves or their faith to remain together.
In her statement, Angela expressed her belief that “marriage is a sacred covenant,” adding, “I move forward with complete confidence that God loves him and always works together for those who are called according to his purpose.”
In a response, Ken Paxton acknowledged their separation on social media, mentioning that after enduring significant political pressure and scrutiny, he and Angela decided to “start a new chapter” in their lives. He shared his gratitude for their family and asked for privacy as they navigate this transition.
Angela accused Ken of adultery in her filing, which noted they have been living apart since June 2024. The legal document stated that their marriage faced serious discord and personality conflicts, which undermined the purpose of their relationship.
The couple has been married for 38 years and has four children and five grandchildren. Interestingly, rumors of infidelity have previously surrounded Paxton.
