“Rap music remains the most influential genre, and I'm here to remind the world why: They made the right choice,” Lamar said in a news release.
Lamar is considered one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time, and he solidified his status in a rap feud with Drake over the summer, but the back-and-forth between the top rappers of this generation is just the tip of the iceberg in Lamar's discography.
He has won 17 Grammy Awards and was the first non-classical or jazz musician to win a Pulitzer Prize for his album DAMN. His final album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, was released in 2022.

Roc Nation founder Jay-Z called Lamar a “once-in-a-generation” artist and performer.
“His deep love of hip hop and culture shapes his artistic vision,” said Jay Z. “He has the unmatched ability to define and influence culture around the world. Kendrick's work transcends music and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
