Kenneth Cole’s Westchester Mansion Back on the Market
It looks like fashion designer Kenneth Cole’s mansion in Westchester is up for sale again. Earlier this year, George Clooney rented the historic home while he was involved with his Broadway production of “Good Night and Good Luck.”
This adds to the mansion’s already rich history; it’s noted as “one of the most architecturally significant private residences in the county,” according to a source. It was previously on the market for around $22 million last year.
Built in the early 1900s, the house in Purchase, New York, was featured in the 1969 film adaptation of Philip Roth’s “Goodbye, Columbus,” starring Ali MacGraw and Richard Benjamin.
Insiders say, “This storied mansion is ready for its next chapter,” highlighting its unique combination of Gilded Age elegance and modern updates.
Kenneth Cole, who bought the property in 1991 for $2.8 million, has seen its estimated value now surpass $1 billion. He mentioned to Bloomberg that he intends to downsize from his seven-bedroom apartment now that his children are grown.
The home spans 12,000 square feet over three stories and is set on 14 acres of gated grounds, which include beautifully landscaped gardens. There are also three office spaces, as per Realtor.com’s last listing for sale.
This property is described as unique, being the largest parcel in Lower Westchester, with a grand colonial style and a gated entrance approached via a winding driveway.
Interestingly, Clooney was nominated for a Tony Award for his role in “Good Night and Good Luck,” which translates the acclaimed 2005 film into a theatrical experience.
