Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) posted a heartfelt tribute to his late wife, Rhonda, on Thursday, breaking his social media silence for the first time in the two weeks since her death.
Massey wrote to X that he was “still devastated” by the loss of his wife, but that “the four amazing children she brought into this world and raised to perfection have surrounded me with love and comfort.”
“More than 1,000 friends and family attended her funeral and sent flowers and other gifts in her memory. We want to thank them, as well as all of you who prayed for us and honored Rhonda in other ways,” he continued.
“Our family cried a lot and laughed at happy memories of her. With the help of others who have experienced a similar loss, I have accepted that I can get through this, but I will never get over it. I never want to lose her memory.”

On June 28, Massey announced that his wife of 35 years had died, but did not disclose the cause of death. In a statement, Massey called her “the wisest, kindest woman I have ever known and will forever be my beautiful and wise queen.”
Since then, various conspiracy theories relating to Rhonda Massey’s death have been circulating online. The MP said he was initially “infuriated” by the rumours but now finds them amusing – “Rhonda would have laughed”.
“Without invading her privacy, I can dispel some of those theories by revealing the following: she did not receive the COVID vaccine (we both tested positive when it became available), our home was very secure, family was home the night she passed away, and an autopsy was performed (results are still pending),” Massey wrote.

“After poring over hundreds of photos of us from our high school days, I once joked that the only believable plot conspiracy I could offer was that a beautiful girl, who was literally a genius, conspired to make him her girlfriend at 16 and then, over the course of decades, molded him into a better person, turning an awkward nerd into a congressman no one could manipulate except for her.
“I return to work serving the residents of Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District and ask for your forgiveness for not being able to vote during this difficult time. Though Rhonda is no longer with us, I will strive to summon the kindness, patience and wisdom she quietly and selflessly gave to serve you.”
