Robbery at Ketel Marte’s Home During All-Star Break

Ketel Marte, a standout player for the Diamondbacks, spoke about a robbery that hit his home while he was away for the All-Star break.

After his team’s victory against the Cardinals, he found out about the burglary which occurred while he was at a hotel in Atlanta for the All-Star Game. More than $400,000 worth of belongings were stolen from his home in Scottsdale.

“It’s not good to know that you’re losing about $400,000,” Marte expressed, via a translator. “But you just have to move on.”

Reports indicated that various personal items, including jewels, were taken and that there were signs of forced entry. Thankfully, no one was home at the time of the incident, the police clarified.

In the wake of the robbery, the Diamondbacks placed Marte on the restricted list, causing him to miss their recent three-game series against the Cardinals. According to a team spokesperson, “He’s dealing with personal issues, so he’s off for a while, just grounded,” suggesting a careful approach to his return.

However, Marte did confirm he plans to come back as the designated hitter against the Astros on Monday night, which, I think, is a relief for the team.

This unfortunate event adds to what has been a tough time for Marte. Earlier, he had an emotional moment on the field when a fan made a comment regarding his late mother, which understandably affected him.

Despite the challenges, Marte continues to have a strong season with impressive stats—19 home runs and 40 RBIs, maintaining a .290 batting average and a 164 OPS+.
