Kevin Costner Plans to Keep Going Strong
Kevin Costner, at 70 years old, isn’t contemplating retirement anytime soon. The star of “Yellowstone” and the ongoing “Horizon” western saga expressed his thoughts in a recent interview, highlighting his enthusiasm for continued creative pursuits.
“I’m not thinking about retirement either, because I’m moving on to the next thing that captures my imagination,” Costner noted. He emphasized that his imagination drives his choices, rather than external pressures.
Reflecting on his life journey, he remarked, “I think we’re all different and we’re different things happening for us. I felt really lucky in my life.” While he acknowledges his efforts, he recognizes that not everyone has the same opportunities or path.
Costner made his screen debut in 1981 and has been a steady presence in Hollywood since. His extensive filmography includes notable works such as “The Postman” and “The Bodyguard,” along with his current projects in the “Horizon” saga. He appears deeply committed to his work, mentioning he doesn’t maintain a traditional “bucket list” but keeps his eyes and enthusiasm fully engaged.
“I was enjoying life so much that I was imagining what I could do, what would satisfy me, not just me, but for others?” he explained, reflecting on his creative process. However, he also shared a sense of urgency, recognizing the importance of time in realizing his goals.
Right now, Costner is balancing multiple projects, including the Western film series “Horizon,” which he writes, directs, and stars in. The first two parts have already been released, and he has plans for two additional films and several television projects in the pipeline.
In his personal life, Costner is a father of seven, navigating the demands of family alongside his career. He shared that while he doesn’t have clear-cut advice for his kids, he hopes they observe his work ethic and commitment. He fondly recalled his school days, where he sometimes struggled, feeling as though he didn’t quite fit in, publicly seeing himself as a bit of an underdog.
Overall, Costner’s outlook is clear: he’s not slowing down. He remains driven both personally and professionally, aiming to explore new opportunities while cherishing his experiences as an actor and a father.
