Kevin Costner knows the benefits of having people he can trust to work with him on location while shooting a movie.
The Oscar winner, who recently revealed that production has just begun on the third installment of Horizon: An American Saga , took to Instagram on Sunday to show off some of his best co-stars on set.
Costner shared a photo on social media of his new pet puppy, Bobby, sitting proudly in Kevin’s director’s chair while filming takes place on the next chapter of his blockbuster movie, Horizon.

Kevin Costner debuted Horizon: An American Saga at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
“Bobby update: he’s a natural on set,” Costner captioned the series of photos, adding #HorizonAmericanSaga.
His yellow Labrador wore protective booties on his feet while on a leash on the set of “Horizon.”

Costner first opened up about the “new addition to our family” earlier this year. “I am already in love with this special man,” he wrote online at the time.

While Bobby was likely barking orders, Costner was back in directorial mode earlier this week.
“Back on set for #HorizonAmericanSaga Part 3,” he wrote on Instagram in a photo posted from the set. “Can’t believe Part 1 will be in theaters in less than a month! I can’t wait for you all to come see what we’ve created for you all.”

The first part of the Western hits theaters on Friday, June 28, with part two following 49 days later on Friday, August 16. In addition to starring in the feature film, Costner also directed “Horizon,” based on a screenplay he co-wrote with John Baird.

His return to film will likely demonstrate his deep respect for the Western genre — after all, Horizon is a project he’s been working on for nearly 30 years.

Costner’s passion for film is central to his interest in the rich history of the American West.
“This isn’t the last attempt to keep the genre alive,” he said. “If people take it seriously, the genre will live forever.”
He added: “I don’t want to be the guy who sets the record straight or says, ‘Oh, history lesson here we go’. That’s not me. But women are the protagonists in my films. I want to highlight their contributions. Without women, the West would perish. That will never happen. This country will never happen. They have a place in these stories.”
While it seems like a big risk for Costner to finance Horizon himself, it wouldn’t be the first time he’s done so.

Costner personally financed the 1990 films “Dances with Wolves,” the 1997 film “The Postman” and the 2014 film “Black or White.”
Of the three, Dances with Wolves was the most critically acclaimed, with Costner winning two Oscars. Academy awards It was nominated for Best Director, Best Picture, and Best Actor.
