Kevin Costner Reflects on Holidays Post-Divorce

This holiday season is set to be quite different for Kevin Costner, who is navigating life as a single father following his divorce from Christine Baumgartner. The “Yellowstone” star emphasizes his intention to create special moments for his children amid this unexpected change.

Costner, who shares three kids—Kayden (18), Hayes (16), and Grace (15)—with Baumgartner, also has older children from previous relationships. His older kids include Annie (41), Lily (39), and Joe (37), from his first marriage to Cindy Silva, as well as Liam (28) from a previous relationship.

He mentioned that the holidays used to follow certain traditions, but now it’s more about reuniting with them after their college breaks and working through any tensions that may arise. “You know, it’s different—just getting everyone together,” he commented, hinting at the complexities of blending family dynamics. “I really try to bring warmth to these times,” he added, expressing a sense of nostalgia for past family traditions.

Costner openly admits to missing the “really cute” holiday activities they used to enjoy as a family. His commitment to ensuring his children have memorable experiences seems to be his main focus this year.

In a recent social media post, Costner reflected on how challenging the holiday season can be for many, sharing insights about his song “Find Your Way,” which resonates more than ever. He noted, “It should be a joyful time, yet it can be incredibly hard for lots of people,” acknowledging common struggles such as grief or loneliness that can often overshadow festive celebrations.

After Baumgartner filed for divorce earlier in 2023, citing irreconcilable differences, the couple’s separation was formalized with child custody arrangements. Interestingly, Baumgartner recently remarried family friend Joshua Connor, having tied the knot in a scenic vineyard setting, highlighting how life continues to evolve on both sides.

As the holiday season approaches, Costner appears committed to fostering a sense of togetherness with his children, even if it means redefining what celebration looks like for them.
