Kevin Costner upset about article, takes to deep-sea diving

Recent reports have stirred up frustration for Oscar winner Kevin Costner, who has taken to deep-sea diving in pursuit of sunken treasure, according to sources. The “Yellowstone” actor is described as being quite fixated on uncovering hidden riches beneath the ocean.

One insider shared, “He recently discovered gold coins and emeralds in the Caribbean and is now in the process of acquiring a TV series focused on hunting for treasures worldwide.” Yet, it seems that no one has stepped up to finance this venture, possibly linked to his well-known demanding persona.

A new article in *The Hollywood Reporter* discusses the challenges Costner has faced throughout his career, which has been marked by issues like feuds, strikes, and lawsuits. A source mentioned that he’s particularly upset about how this piece portrays his recent struggles, saying he feels “very angry” about the coverage.

As for his ambitious project “Horizon,” Costner is reportedly having a tough time securing funding for the four-part western series. In fact, he even had to mortgage a $60 million vacant property he owns in Santa Barbara County to try to raise money. It raises the question—could his underwater discoveries assist in financing the movie? After all, “Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1” didn’t fare well at the box office in 2024, and “Horizon 2” currently lacks a release date. The push for parts 3 and 4 continues.

Costner has always had a fascination with the ocean. He once explored the depths with underwater archaeologist Alex Mirabal. The two met while investigating a Portuguese shipwreck off the coast of Mozambique and contemplated starting an exploration business together.

In March, they visited a museum in Havana, Cuba, to explore maritime artifacts from the late 19th century. However, it’s not just the sea that’s been tumultuous for Costner. Reports revealed that tensions flared between him and *Yellowstone* co-star Wes Bentley, resulting in an altercation that apparently left another cast member, Kelly Reilly, in tears.

This incident occurred while filming a particularly charged scene involving children on set. Some cast members have expressed frustration over Costner’s “diva-like” behavior. Bentley’s representative acknowledged the event, describing it as a “work-related altercation” but stated that it had been addressed and resolved. Costner’s spokesperson chose not to comment on the situation.

It’s interesting to think about his career trajectory. He’s known for roles in films like *Guardians* and worked on the notorious underwater adventure *Waterworld*. One can’t help but wonder where his latest treasure hunting adventures will lead him next.
